Firefight Versus Detailed and Demo'd
A few days ago we revealed some of the basics of Firefight Versus to you. Today, we're back with the full blown details of the mode, as well as several firefight versus gameplay videos so you can see the mode in action.
So here is how the mode breaks down. You start as a Spartan, playing Firefight just like normal. However intermixed with the standard NPC covenant forces are several human controlled Elites.
On the Spartan side, Firefight mode plays just like normal. You get points for your kills, have multipliers, have a limited number of respawns, etc. The only difference from the Spartan point of view is that the human controlled elites exist as well, and they are worth a ton of points.
The Elites, however, have infinite respawns. Of course, you'll want to limit your deaths because as mentioned above, Spartans get a bunch of points for killing you. Elites do not earn any points.
After the round ends (either time limit, or from the Spartans using up all their respawns), you'll flip sides and the team formerly controlling the Spartans will now control the Elites and vice versa. You each take your turn as Spartans, and the highest score wins. By default, you play only one round as a Spartan (with a 5 minute time limit and 6 lives) and one round as an elite, though of course with the immense amounts of customization available for Firefight mode you can set this up however you want. You can also tweak the game modes, skulls, etc any way you see fit.
Still not satisfied? We've embedded a couple gameplay videos of some 2v2 Firefight versus mode above. You'll recognize the first map as Overlook from the Halo Reach Beta, the map you played generator defense on, which was actually just a network test to see if firefight versus was possible.
