Halo Reach's Next Map Pack is Defiant
Just when you were starting to master the Noble map pack, Microsoft is back for more of your money with their next map pack release, titled simply "Defiant".
Notice that I said Microsoft there, and not Bungie. That's because this map pack marks a major turning point in the Halo franchise, as this will be the first DLC for Reach not developed by Bungie. Instead, Microsoft has turned the reigns over to developer Certain Affinity, who did some work on Call of Duty: World at War previously.
The map pack will once again include three maps: Condemned, Highlands, and Unearthed.
As has become standard by now, the map pack will retail for 800ms points. The map pack is expected to hit in March of this year.
UPDATE: The Defiant Map pack will release on March 15th, 2011
Condemned is set in a damaged space station (or more specifically, a communications platform) and will include a lot of corridor based gameplay, as well as some spectacular space views of the planet Reach and its star.
Highlands is a more open, foresty map. The map will draw your eye's attention right away with some spectacular backgrounds, featuring covenant ships amid some imposing, colored storm clouds. It really is a site to behold, and a great backdrop for a battle.
Lastly, we have Unearthed, a map based in and on Reach's titanium mines that will support the Firefight and Generator Defense game modes.
If all of that isn't enough for you, you can also check out the maps in this video Defiant map pack trailer..
