Introducing Forge World
Everyone was pretty much assuming that Forge would be returning in Halo Reach. Bungie's latest Vi-Doc, which is embedded after the break, not only confirms that Forge will indeed make its way to Halo Reach, but also that it will be bigger and better in many ways.
Welcome to Forge World, otherwise known as the area "beyond the canyon" in the recent Blood Gulch reveal video. Forge world is an expansion on Forge. Originally, it was set to contain five separate customizable maps. However, in finding a way to lower the resolution of distant objects, Bungie was able to actually fit all five distinct areas into one gigantic, and we mean GIGANTIC, map.
Almost nothing in Forge goes unchanged. Objects you place now have the ability to be placed in three modes. You can leave them hovering wherever you put them, drop them on a hard surface, or "phase" them into other existing objects. The phase mode really provides some cool opportunities to make some very unique maps and gametypes.
You'll also have much more control over new gametypes, which Bungie going as far as to show off a gamemode they created which was a variant of king of the hill, only the hill was a fully operational warthog.
Of course, refinements to the editing process were made as well, and they look great. Check out the video up above.
